Family-Placed Death Notice

MORAN, Cody Cody Ann Moran, 55, of Duluth, died Friday, March 18, 2011 at Peachtree Christian Hospice. She was a native Atlantan who was a realtor and real estate broker for over 20 years. Cody was recognized for many achievements including being a lifetime Member of the Million Dollar Club, 2003 Realtor of the Year by Northeast Atlanta Metro Association of Realtors (NAMAR), and in 1987 “Atlanta’s Best” (Realtors) by the Atlanta-Journal Constitution.

In addition to her expertise in real estate, Cody was an acknowledged expert in mortgage fraud and awareness. She served on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the Georgia Real Estate Fraud Prevention and Awareness Coalition (GREFPAC) for several years. In this capacity, she educated not only the clients she served but fellow Realtors, homeowner associations, and civic groups. Cody also tirelessly served her community. In 1989, she was a founding member of the Duluth Merchants Association and served as president in 1997. She was nominated for a “Good Neighbor Award” for outstanding community service. She raised money for breast cancer, Foster Children’s Foundations and other important causes. For her fundraising work with the American Diabetes Association Atlanta Chapter, Cody was awarded a trip to London where she completed the London Marathon. In addition, Cody participated in nine Peachtree Road Races. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jack Jones, her brothers, Timothy J. Moran, Jr. and Patrick L. Moran, two nieces, and countless friends. Cody was predeceased by her father, Timothy J. Moran Sr., her mother, Eloise Keirn Armentrout, and stepfather, Sam Armentrout. Cody was a strong, competent, and vivacious woman who loved life. Those honored to know and love her truly feel the loss. A service honoring Cody’s memory will be held Saturday, March 26, at 2:00 pm at Atlanta Unity Church, 3597 Parkway Lane, Norcross, GA. 30092, Arrangements made by Metro Embalming & Crematory, Conyers, Ga.
